Continuing Meditation
“Every class opens up new possibilities.”
- Katherine Holtham, Victoria BC
The transformation inherent in the practice of meditation comes to us only as part of a lifelong journey. Recognizing this, Neil McKinlay offers a range of services intended to help people deepen their commitment to and connection with this path. As all these are rooted in the ‘Meditating with the Body’ approach to practice featured in his introductory events, prior exposure to this technique is recommended.
Neil’s continuing offerings are presented in two formats. One- and two-day workshops provide guided meditation and extended practice. Teaching talks explore subject matter relevant to the meditative journey and personal interviews allow for one-on-one interaction. Smaller versions of this format can be conducted in private homes upon request.
Neil also offers an ongoing class through Oak Bay Recreation. Taking place at Monterey Centre most Wednesday evenings, this weekly gathering affords regular exposure to hour-long - and several times each year, two-hour long - practice sessions. In order to further our understanding of the meditative path, time is also allowed for discussion.
The greater Dharma Ocean community provides additional opportunities for us to enrich our engagement with the tradition of Neil’s teachers, Reggie Ray and Chogyam Trungpa. The annual Winter Dathun and ‘Meditating with the Body’ retreats immerse both new and experienced meditators in the teachings and practices of this lineage. Other retreats and groups are offered throughout the Pacific Northwest.
